- Nothing defines a great date night like dinner in a rich but comfortable setting accompanied by excellent food. It helps, too, if the venue is a bit different from the usual eatery. In the case of “different”, I’ll note that not every Victorian Home offers delicious seasonal California cooking accompanied by an incredible wine list. However, residents of Plano, Texas and visitors from this area of north Texas are in luck! Just such a Victorian Home, occupied by Sip & Savor Restaurant & Fine Wines, is serving mouth-watering dishes and palate-pleasing wines right here in our lovely city. This is a “different” restaurant worth your time and attention. It’s a restaurant with class.
This beautiful house was built by the Wells family in 1893 and is a city-designated historical landmark. Sip & Savor Restaurant is a small, 20-table restaurant established in the former Wells house in 2011 by John and Teresa Weeks. The Weeks strive to deliver the best quality California inspired meals available. The menu is proud, offering top-of-the-line foods purchased from source growers.
What do these proud meals consist of? A very high yum factor!Appetizers wow you before you even start the main meal. Their cheeses are diverse: Italian organic cheese, Spanish goat cheese, and even raw cow cheese from Kansas. And don’t overlook flat bread dipped in crab artichoke dip or a crab-stuffed avocado. If spicy is your preference, there’s Spanish Chorizo.
Now to some main meals. Prepare your tongue: ribeye with red potatoes and marrow butter; jumbo shrimp and grits, with creamy cheddar and asparagus polenta; and bone in short ribs with mushroom and Parmesan risotto.
There’s more! A seared filet mignon with Parmesan potato pave and crispy shallots. Is your stomach growling yet? Perhaps a thick fillet of Pacific Swordfish, or a juicy Cedar River Strip Steak will satisfy your appetite.
When you’re full, you can top your visit off with a rich chocolate espresso creme brulee
or pumpkin cheesecake.
Dinner out could not be more rewarding. How often do you get to astonish your taste buds?
Lastly, Sip and Savor is a wine-oriented restaurant, so it’s no surprise that you can sip the best of Pacific Coast wine. The rest of their wine list is delightfully international. You’ll have choice of wines from Europe, Chile, and Argentina.
Sip & Savor is in a quiet neighborhood at 3921 Coit Road. The restaurant takes reservations from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
